I just got back from a business trip to Big Spring, Texas, and experienced the same thing. In my neck of the woods we don't make eye contact with strangers, and keep pretty much to ourselves. Southern hospitality is no myth! I quickly realized that my normal behavior would be considered rude so I quickly adapted. It wasn't hard with folks being so darned friendly and nice. The week before I was in Las Vegas. I enjoyed Big Spring so much more, even though it was 100 degrees and there was virtually nothing to do after hours.
