Israel IMHO should of held off any attacks choosing to attempt a cease fire and negotiate with Hamas. Stating all bets were of with the first rocket fired at Israel.

No chance at a cease fire working for more then a few hours. This would give the Israelis the high ground with most of the world.

Now Hamas is pure evil and needs to be stopped. Yet the Israelis IIRC are signatories of International laws regarding warfare.

""However, the exercise of this right of self-defence is still subject to international humanitarian law. In other words, the lawful exercise of self-defence does not allow a state to have recourse to unlimited means, and is subject to jus in bello to minimise suffering in armed conflicts.""

One of the problems with modern warfare is the ability to have real time video pictures shown to the rest of the world. Atrocities in the past were harder to prove with less documentation. Does not mean they didn't happen. Wars have always been the darkest side of humanity.
