Conspiracy theory. *L*

Thing about peaceful protests is that they are peaceful - until they're not.
I was on the street with a large crowd at a Newt Gingrich appearance at a hotel in downtown Seattle in the 90's. There were hundreds, if not thousands there. We were there to support him. But there was a problem. Another large crowd, many of whom had been bussed in, were there to protest and they were a surley lot.
They were screaming insults at us and, as it appeared to me, trolling us to act out. There was a line between the crowds that was no more than 15 or 20 feet wide that had a sparse line of cops and a rope. I walked down my side of the line imploring people to not respond in like kind. Finally, I met a guy on my side that had a "pocket trumpet". It was a full trumpet but only about 10 inches long. I got him to start playing the melody to the old protest song, "All we are saying, is give Peace a chance". Then I got a few of us near him to start singing, only replace "peace" with "newt". We kept repeating it and eventually the whole crowd (on our side) was singing it.
The whole thing was completely neutralized.
Maybe later I'll show you the point in the Seattle speech Hillary gave at Westlake park to promote her government health care plan and where she looked right at me when I yelled, "Thanks, mom!"
I've been at this a while.
