Indeed, being proud of one's country is not inconsistent with wanting to improve it. However, combining a terrible country song with a celebration of militarism is more of a display of jingoism than patriotism.

You're the on who called the Lee Greenwood song "pathetic". And celebrating those who have chosen to serve their country, including those who have gone into harms way and also supported relief efforts after the recent hurricanes, is hardly "militarism".
