I've forgotten none of it. Like you, I was born before the first bomb was dropped and, having grown up 50 miles from the Soviet's prime target, I'm probable a lot more keenly aware of what we were facing than any small boy from a small Canadian town. I didn't live through it at a safe distance. There were several missile batteries within a couple miles of my house to serve as a constant reminder.
