I think he's looking for the sweet spot.

So far the nastier the rhetoric the more popular he gets with the Republican base. When he reaches the point where his polls start to drop because of it, he'll back off a notch and set the cruise control. As nasty as the Republican base is, he may still have a ways to go.

You know when I first heard the theory that he is in cahoots with the Clintons and has entered the race to help Hillary I thought it was just crazy. But the way he's acting I'm beginning to wonder if there might be something to it.
