Sorry, Ike but all this speaks to is Ms. Graham's concern for her son. It neither explains nor justifies her choice of means in demonstrating that concern.

It's also easy to interpret her son's contrition as mere filial contrition, rather than some newfound appreciation of the dangers of riotous behavior.
