BTW beating a kid like this does not necessarily negate they turn out "bad" it simply does not improve the odds.

And I toiled in a HUD sponsored welfare to work program back in the Clinton welfare reform days. I had over a hundred single black mom clients who spilled their guts out to me for over 15 years about what they dealt with trying to keep their 14 year old boys out of the "thug" life.

What typically worked is when the boys were more afraid of their mom, or all too often their grandmother, than they were of the gangbangers. It's not the plan of choice for any child's development. But when the alternatives are what they are...what works is what needs to be done.
