As far as I'm concerned if "...a lot of people in these areas view them more or less favorably..." because they can flush their fucking toilets...those people are no better than the beheaders.

Most people in that part of the world are used to being treated like shit by their leaders so they expect it. they learn to take the bad with the good and, if Daesh can deliver a little good along the way, people who've had none of that for a quarter century might deserve a little understanding.
