You have to pave the way with bits of data to eradicate rage. Hitting folks who are angry and wrong with the whole kielbasa just makes them madder.

Regarding point 1.
There's a difference between 'knowing you're right' and 'being right.' People often 'know they're right' due to their identity, their status, because it's 'them.' I get the feeling you buy into this feeling that the cops are 'right' by definition. And if they're ever wrong, see rule one.
It would also be OK if their leaked a lie, to modify the narrative, wouldn't it? After all, see rule one.
