My friend's kids in the hood tend to buy old 'rounded' civics (90s) with issues for $3-400, they fix the issues (almost always minor) and drive them for a year or two. It's almost amazing. Sometimes they have more than 350k when they buy them.
You can also swap the bigger anti-sway bars off of Acuras, bolt on fitment  Pete
