Here's a video of a panel discussion of the article in the OP.

Note what the author says beginning at 3:48 into the video.

"If you are the party of self reliance and pulling yourself up by your bootstraps, and 75% of Asian Americans don't vote for you, you have a problem"

That's one of the better segments I've ever seen on MSNBC. The chart at 1:10 should scare the shit outta leadership in the GOP...although I'm sure they've been aware of these numbers for a long time now and it doesn't seem to get through their thick skulls, now does it? Same with Tanenhaus's comments...as you noted, the most stinging of them.

So...I've been beating this drum for a while now, perhaps it's pretty redundant at this point, but I just have to say it again...
It's not just the '08 and '12 elections. The GOP has won a single popular vote in the last 6 Presidential elections. And that one only because of Cheney's fear mongering success in scaring the crap out of the gullible electorate in '04 with images of swarthy mustachioed terrorists with backpacks fulla gelignite under every bed.

They've lost 5 of the last 6 popular votes because there's been a demographics shift. The urban voters (and in particular the groups noted in the chart) have had it with the GOP's nauseating basic social platform of intrusion into women's health, intrusion into medical research, intrusion into public school science classes, intrusion into worker's organization, intrusion into pretty much everything that should be left to discussion in church and not in the legislative body.

But somehow with more of this shit from Boehner...it's pretty clear nothing is getting through to them. It's a real goddamn shame.
