Whenever I modded my Klipsch Quartets, ti di's for the tweeters and recapped crossovers, they sounded about the same five minutes later as they do today. The titanium diaphragms did smooth out and extend the highs, then again I did it all at once, so I couldn't really tell how much difference the caps made.
Then again, I was running them with a PE 10" MKIII sub, until the THIRD plate amp went to shit. Those Dayton plate amps are junk.
I finally bit the bullet and started using tone controls. The mids and highs were slightly better when paired with the sub, but I've had it with those plate amps. Even thought about moving my C-1 back into the system just because it has a loudness control, except that I know it doesn't have the clarity of my existing pre.
All said and done, everything sounds fine. Time to quit while I'm ahead.
