What I find interesting/dismaying is that even a well trained police officer is subject to an investigation each and every time he discharges his gun, with enhanced scrutiny if someone is killed. These ridiculous "stand your ground" laws grant immunity if you feel threatened, thereby leading police departments where such laws are in force to turn a blind eye to vigilante justice.

Think about it. Many (most?) people packing heat are doing so because something about their personality results in them feeling threatened/endangered in the same circumstances where others likely don't. Do we now allow these insecure ninnies to act out their fears through the barrel of a gun without accountability? How about if I feel threatened by a squeegee kid? Can I just run him over and keep on driving secure in the belief that I am immune from prosecution because he made me feel uncomfortable?

Although, I do understand what you're saying, Pete. And I do concur that there is something terribly wrong and disturbing with trial-by-media. However, I also find it terribly wrong and disturbing that we entrust whomever can carry a weapon with the power to issue themselves instant death warrants. I also find the determination of some people to determine innocence beforehand disturbing as well. (The constitution says we must assume innocence before trial, not determine innocence before trial. There is a difference.)

And there are somethings fishy smelling with this case;

A grown armed man, of much greater physical stature, fears for his life because the unarmed person he shot was wearing a "Hoodie"? He called 911 before the fact to let the police know he was going to shoot the kid?
Sorry, but it does wreak of premeditated murder. It really does. We shall see, after the trial.

Most civilized people do hate gun toting yahoos who seek to take justice into their own hands. They're just as dangerous as any other tough guy idiot. (Well, everyone except the GOPs "mystery constituency", or "certain demographic" if you prefer. They seem to revere such bozos. But, since they only exist in the imagination of stupid Liberals, I see no point in arguing about them.)

I'm not saying who knows what and something seems fishy agreed. But regardless of what a court might find...

Btw, the few people I know that carry are not scared people. Nor are they scary.

Stereotype much?
Do those who carry umbrellas feel more threatened by rain than those who don't?
If I have a jack in my trunk, and you don't, does that mean I'm more worried about getting a flat tire, or just more prepared?
Is everyone who keeps food/water rations in the closet a paranoid dooms-dayer?
I'm more concerned about "something in the personality" of those who walk around oblivious and unprepared.

Packing heat strikes me a bit differently than carrying an umbrella. I doubt very many people are killed by concealed umbrellas.

FWIW, I've been a gun owner for over 40 years, but indiscriminate concealed carry laws seem both dangerous as well as a solution looking for a problem. As for "Stand Your Ground" laws, they're completely idiotic.

Why else would you do it?

I'm more concerned about "something in the personality" of folks who would walk around carrying the very item that increases the odds of that which they say they're trying to prevent from occurring. It is completely illogical unless your addressing some sort of personal thumb-sucking blanket need.

Oh, wait...

The New Black Panthers don't speak for anyone that I know of. They never had any legitimacy, IMHO. Nevertheless, I condemn any bounty placed on this man. The last thing we need is more vigilante "justice."

+1. Agreed. Good point.

(Yes. However, they probably just don't want to look like the idiot that just stands out in the rain, getting soaking wet. It is more common to encounter rain than it is to encounter an armed attacker, last I checked.)

If I have a jack in my trunk, and you don't, does that mean I'm more worried about getting a flat tire, or just more prepared?

(Yes. Both, actually. Both of my vehicles have jacks, BTW. Even my bicycle has a patch kit and a pump. But, then, I've had many a flat tire. Only been shot once and still don't own any guns. If I had had one, it wouldn't have made any difference anyways, never saw the person who shot me.)

Is everyone who keeps food/water rations in the closet a paranoid dooms-dayer?

(I live in a hurricane prone area. Most people here have a "Hurricane Kit". I believe, however, that this is a far cry from the guy who spends all of his spare time building a bunker and filling it with enough provision to last three years and arms to fight off the Marines, because he thinks "Liberals" are coming to steal his beaver pelts and rape his fat, stupid wife. One is reasonable preparation, the other is a lunacy.)

I'm more concerned about "something in the personality" of those who walk around oblivious and unprepared.
I'm more worried about people who are scared shitless about monsters that don't exist, fed to them by politically motivated pundits who are only trying to scare them into the voting booth.

Still waiting for Obama to send the cattle cars?
