True dat. But the former union activist in me wants to cheer on my brothers and sisters still in the movement. Old habits die hard.

It doesn't stop in Wisc. I think it is more of a test run. Right wing governors all over the country are going to try this, particularly if it works in Wisconsin. I would very much like to see the labor movement unified over this and working together to stop this ongoing decimation of the middle class.

Anyhow. I know my employer does all of the witholding for me, I don't have to do it myself and I am grateful for that. It does save me the hassle. But I am not ignorant of what I am paying at all.

Why do you think corporate rates ought be higher? Who employs people once businesses leave. Case in point, California. The high taxes, due to our democratic state legislature, prompted high technology companies to leave. The result is a greater and great polarization along socio-economic lines. Those old high technology manufacturing middle class jobs are gone.
China is economically on the rise largely because, ironic since they purport communism, they actively help their companies grow and are not encumbered by environmental concerns.

Well, we've seen what unions did to every industry that they touched. Unions simply can not efficiently compete in a global economy without needing costs and barriers to competition imposed by the state. Unions, an anachronism that chokes innovation and builds stifling bureaucracies.

California has problems because the people voted in Prop 13 - dumb.
So does this mean that you are prepared to work for $75 per month so that your employer can compete with the Chinese. Perhaps we should get the Fed to devalue the dollar as well.

On top of that we have also seen what free markets can do - depression.

Did I say corporate taxes should be higher? No. I simply meant to point out that lower corporate taxes are offset by taxing the populace at a higher rate. And, I just happen to resent that. That in my "Right to Work" red state taxes are higher (For the average person.) and wages are lower to appease the wealthy. "Reverse Robinhoodism", as I like to call it,--Taking from the poor to give to the rich.
There. Now that I've spelled it out, do you finally get it?
The Chinese Communists "help their companies" by providing what amounts to slave labor. They look the other way when it comes to labor conditions and environmental concerns because they are horribly corrupt and easily bribed.
Yeah, use their model. It's much more "business friendly".

How so? If we can't compete in the global market, it's because we compete with nations whose standard of living for their workers is FAR lower than ours.
So, what are you suggesting we subject our own people too, in the name of "competition"?
