The US's trouble with Europe and love? of Russia

Hi guys ( and gal )

Sorry it's another hit and run, I just don't have the time...

Excuses excuses.

This is just SO GOOD I had to share with people who care, a great little talk by the awesome Applebaum on the US's occasional bromance with Russia and current dislike for Europe:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ViiAeTeqHKY

I hope you'alls enjoy it as much as I did. There's a lot of good news in there too.

Pete

If there is anything of substance here, YouTube is not the place to make known.

Bob, LOL!

Her 'Gulag' is a masterpiece.

Human, I'm sorry you'll miss it.

This interview adds more support to my theory that in some weird way the Reckless Right is somehow the new Loonie Left from days past (the extremes)

What is happening be like ......

A Policeman (played by Trump) pulls up to your door with arm around a car thief (played by Putin).

Then says to you ..... let the thief have you car, he promises not to come after your truck later....

Great analogy Any deal with Putin is temporary and has no lasting value. Trump is similar but he simply forgets permanently he made a deal. Neither are trustworthy.

It is quite remarkable how the American Far Right has adopted Putin's Russia as their ideal just as the American Far Left did in the 1930's.

Large scale sympathy for the USSR and communism on the Left, while significant in the 1930's, went downhill fast after the Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact in 1939.

Tailgunner Joe spent years in the 1950's trying to prove it still existed and self-immolated in the process. As for the 1970's and 1980's, Far Left sympathies weren't really with the USSR like they were in the 1930's. The true nature of the USSR was widely known and understood by then and did not generate much support outside of extremist groups like Baader-Meinhof.
