Forget being "polite" to current presidents, our democracy is at stake dammit.

Polite wasn't a goal, just having guys either do something where they can do a good job, or stay out of the way and just do photo-ops.

Yesterday was "Buy Nothing" day...and I did just that. Didn't spend one nickel. I'm also a firm believer in boycotts. For example, for years I've refused to buy anything made by Georgia-Pacific. G-P is owned by Koch industries. Need i say more? That means no Brawny paper towels...no Vanity Fair napkins...no Dixie cups or plates. G-P is also big in construction materials...so bear that in mind when planning a project.

There's more boycotts in the works...so keep tabs and do what you can.

It's not as easy as it sounds, though.

I, along with millions of other Canadians, am currently observing a strict boycott of all things American and this often ends up with one going without some of one's favorite products when no suitable non-American replacement can be found.

Add to that the fact that any shopping trip is now doubled in duration due to the necessity for forensic label-reading of just about everything. I am, I suppose, "shocked but not surprised" at the number of things I used to buy without a second thought that are sourced, packaged in, or distributed from the USA.

Gotta tell you, it's a major PITA. But worth it!

'This Michigan Democrat cruised to victory in a Trump district. Here’s how.
Meet Kristen McDonald Rivet.' WP

"SAGINAW, Michigan — When Rep. Kristen McDonald Rivet (D-Michigan) had breakfast recently with a dozen beet farmers from her state, she knew without having to ask that most of them had voted Republican.

Make sense of the latest news and debates with our daily newsletter
Though the agenda for this meeting was the federal sugar program, she turned the conversation to how Medicaid would be devastated under the GOP-passed House budget. More rural hospitals could go under in a state where many people already have to drive two hours to get to one, she told them. And she noted that close to half the births in Michigan are covered by Medicaid.

The farmers leaned forward in their chairs, she recalled, and “we spent the rest of that breakfast talking about the Medicaid cuts.”

Kristen McDonald Rivet is probably not a name you’ve heard, given that she has been a member of Congress for fewer than 12 weeks."

The midterms are looking brighter for the Democrats, people are fucking pissed on both sides after a couple months of these thieves and grifters that're in power.

Some honeymoon, eh?

ps I seriously doubt that these half assed, quarter stepping punks have the stones to invoke the Insurrection Act. F*ck them. This former Yippie has greased up my walker and ready to hit the streets. (grin)

Now you just have to get some of your elected representatives to strap on a set like the ones you're wearing, Bob.

Felon would be the one to invoke the insurrection act which would be the precursor to martial law if the protests kick off. The protests would then be declared illegal and those participating would be arrestable. A million plus souls on the streets of DC around the WH and the Capitol would make a great "I dare you" statement.
When and where and I'll be there.

Always remember: just as the rule of law only works when everyone believes in it and acts accordingly, the rule of the rich only works when everybody believes in it and acts accordingly. We have the power to walk away from the oligarchs, just by realizing the universe will let us. Which it will. There is no natural law that gives a billionaire power. We can ignore what they say as easily as they ignore what the law says. We just need to realize it. Whatever kind of world we believe in, we will have. Human authority is just software.
