If the MAGA Messiah would disappear behind bars, in the worst worst case a civil war would be likely. In my opinion. The MAGA Messiah disciples are totally possessed. It is a "Führer befiehl wir folgen" devotion (see January 6).

Why so many want Trump?

It's the question of the decade. How can anyone like this guy? I thought I partly understood, but never felt I really had it solid. Until now. Thank you, thank-you, Doug Muder of The Weekly Sift!

The longer form argument is worth reading, but I will give you the quick summary. Trump is popular and may win because he appeals to everyone who does not understand the modern world, and feels like they don't fit in these days. There's been too much of the wrong sort of change for many people (some folks get particularly panicky about the sex and gender stuff, and some couldn't even handle the 'black lives matter' slogan.) They maybe aren't doing well, and in any case the world feels wrong to them. Fact is, it's felt wrong ever since they stopped being kids. They think Trump will solve their problems by forcing things to go back to being right--and if he does it violently that's just fine.

Indeed, in a survey which asked MAGA folks when America was at its greatest, they consistently responded with a year that corresponded to when they were 7 or 8 years old. IOW, a time when they had plenty of friends and no worries or responsibilities, financial or otherwise.

With "the Menace" behind bars the MAGA will have to find a new leader to follow. That leader need be informed that stirring up shit against the election and by extension the government will court charges of treason which will be pursued if necessary. No pussyfooting around. This needs to be extended to "the Menace" as well be he in prison or in exile. There needs to be some separation between the extremists and saner heads in the party, if there are any remaining that is, if it is ever to recover.
