Quote:
The right wing of the Southern Baptists, the largest Protestant denomination in America, is now — like conservatives more broadly — cracking down on what it sees as dangerous liberal drift. Most people in the denomination have long believed that the office of head pastor should be reserved for men. But an ultraconservative faction with a loud online presence is going further, pressing for ideological purity and arguing that female pastors are a precursor to acceptance of homosexuality and sexual immorality.
Some ultraconservatives are now pushing for investigations and expulsions of the churches whose practices differ, like Fern Creek.
The fight over the place of women in the church, long contentious, has been escalating as American evangelicalism increasingly fuses with Republican politics and a vocal ultraconservative minority pushes for power.
The crackdown comes at a moment when the country is broadly re-examining women’s rights, a year after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade. For the Southern Baptists, it also comes as victims’ advocates continue to press the denomination to take action after devastating reports of sexual abuse of women and children, and are met with resistance from some men in the organization.

We have someone around here that won't consider the documents stolen unless he's convicted of steaking them. Then they'll dispute the conviction.

I thought the GOP controlled House was in recess, but guess not. But they are always open for shenanigans, and now they want to censure Adam Schiff for pressing allegations that Trump colluded with Russia for getting elected. And besides that, they also want to fine him for $16M. Shitshow continues.
Quote:
The Republican-led House is expected to consider a measure as early as Wednesday that would censure Rep. Adam B. Schiff (D-Calif.) for pressing allegations that former president Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign colluded with Russia.
The resolution also seeks to fine Schiff, the former House Intelligence Committee chairman, $16 million, which its sponsor, Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.), says is half the cost of an investigation into the alleged collusion.

Since they're in the fining people mood who are they going to start fining for those colossal wastes of time that were the Benghazi investigations?
These lame asses are doing their absolute best to lose massively in the 2024 elections.

Are they going to take a page from Tennessee, and start kicking out members they don't like?

GOP effort to censure Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff fails in key vote
https://www.cnn.com/2023/06/14/polit...use/index.html
Sorry, Whell!
What a great Rep. He's the sort of principled politician the Repubes are sorely lacking after John McCain's passing. I MAY be able to vote him into the Senate next time - hope so!

George Santos supports censure of Adam Schiff: 'We must preserve the integrity of the U.S House of Representatives'

Of course he does. Everything’s upside down and backwards in Whell’s World.
