Its in the news everyday what their goals are, heck take a look at the Scotus and that will give us a very good indication.

Because their concerns (while mostly BS) are real to them just as yours are to you. SMDH

But hey, lets be Mericans and sit back and bitch and hate instead of engaging and trying to fix it. That is the root cause of our division.

I am out, as I said before, you guys are just as much of the problem as "they are". I will not change your mind here. Your entrenched in your hate.

And my grandson got a single shot bolt action .22

Not really, but let me ask you this. If people here are an extreme and so are your compatriots, who is in the middle, just you? Seems like you want to win the good guy award and not sure whom to turn to.

I do not hate anyone, not even Trump. I just prefer not to engage with the wingnuts who in my experience are ignorant to the core. So if one cannot discuss facts, why bother.

I drink black coffee, not frappucino. (big grin)

All circumstances matter. You are online, we are online, anyone choosing to 'debate' is online. There is about zero chance that anyone debating online is going to climb down from the ground they stake out and be 'reasonable.' The experiment has been done, in the case of all of us here, for years and years. It's good to be civil in online debates, the lurkers like it and you better if you are, but it's not vital. It's all for personal gratification, in any of a number of ways possible, you do what works for you.

Meeting in real life is different. Just had a mini 'family reunion' this weekend, with a cousin I grew up with, and her husband. I know her to be an outspoken MAGA online. We all just didn't talk politics, not for one second. Got along great, had a nice time.

We don't disagree much, as you say. Main point of disagreement is you keep wanting to scold us for not being nice enough online. I say it doesn't matter much, except as the online style may poison real-life interactions that could be positive. Your ability to break down disagreement in real life is commendable, and certainly worth of emulation.

Are you sure you aren't just playing a game of "I'm better than you, you nasty hater!"

(on edit) I think I dig. You identify with the 'red demographic,' though not the politics much. It stings you when people criticize things that symbolize the demographic to you, like gun ownership. You feel insulted/hated. You look for rational grounds (you are perpetuating/heightenning the division of out country!) to rationalize criticizing us for the 'hateful' things we say that bother you.

^^I have a couple of close friends who are deep in the tank Trumpers. A few of the guys in our larger circle of friends who are quite liberal shun them now to the point where we do not even get together for weekend brunch anymore, something we used to do regularly.

My friendship with these two have not changed at all, we just avoid politics and I am secure enough with them that I can occasionally joke about their politics. Their feelings about Hillary and Biden are at best cringe worthy but otherwise, these are some of the warmest human beings I know. And they like me too despite my political leaning.

You're flat out wrong Chief.

People like myself that you say bitch & hate recognize that MAGADOM is an existential threat to our Democratic Republic. We're not going to make like it's all good and can't we all be friends.

Being neutral in these times is supporting insurrection.

You can't be for fucking real. You can't see that the majority of the one's in your orbit can't keep their noses out of a trans kid's counseling room or doctor's office? You can't see that the majority of the one's in your orbit just can't keep their noses out of an LGB bedroom? You can't see that the majority of the one's in your orbit just can't keep their noses out of my wife's reproductive organs? (Yeah...yeah...she's post menopausal...I'm just making a point.)

The majority of the one's in your orbit just need to mind their own fucking business. And they just need to shut their racist festering pieholes about Barak Obama's fucking birth certificate.

And its the majority, the mainstream American conservative now that can't mind their own fucking business. Either that or the majority of the one's in your orbit will look the other way and vote for Trump a third time anyway knowing exactly what kind of goddamn criminal he is...simply because they think he's not a Democrat. Which makes them fucking worse than the MAGA cult extremists.

Well said, Mark.

I would only add that this modern great cultural divide is nothing new. It began the first time American conservative Agnew worshippers started bleating "America love it or leave it." Its the most severe cultural divide in this country since the 1860's. And this one started over 50 years ago only a little over 100 years after the end of The Civil War.

Inportant point. You can try to get along and not alienate individuals who aren't too drunk on the kool-aid, but the movement is nothing less than an authoritarian threat to destroy our democracy, and needs to be stopped by about any means they make necessary!
