CNN Fires Don Lemon

"CNN on Monday fired veteran host and anchor Don Lemon, he said, in a surprise move that came only minutes after Fox News parted ways with its star host, Tucker Carlson.

Lemon announced his departure from CNN in a tweet. “I was informed this morning by my agent that I have been terminated by CNN,” he wrote. “I am stunned. After 17 years at CNN I would have thought that someone in management would have had the decency to tell me directly. At no time was I ever given any indication that I would not be able to continue to do the work I have loved at the network. It is clear that there are some larger issues at work.”" WP

Oh well. When the newscaster becomes more important than the news, it's time for a change.

No great loss. I'm not a fan of "news" furnished by personalities or "stars." I prefer the dry newsreader delivery that I used to watch on German and other European TV (if it still exists). "News" needs to break away from the infotainment paradigm it has fallen into over the last ~30 years.

It was because nobody was watching him.

Perhaps. I certainly didn't watch him. For the most part, I don't watch cable news unless it's to check in briefly on an ongoing big, breaking story (like Trump being indicted for 34 felonies or Fox buckling to Dominion for $3/4 billion).

I read the news from reputable sources and forego the endless, predictable panel discussions or celebrity hosts spewing bullshit. All cable news sucks, but Fox's suckage is on an entirely different plane in that they don't even attempt to present actual news. They spew lies and angertainment to rubes. It's talk radio with pictures.

Absolutely. Like all human endeavors, cable TV news happens on a continuum. The Fux Nooz end of the continuum being the most inane and despicable. And FUX is hanging off that end of the continuum by a thread.
