TX Gov. Abbott seeks to become an accomplice to murder after the fact.

OK...OK...the equivalent of an accomplice to murder after the fact.

Texas governor seeks to pardon Army sergeant convicted of murder

Quote:
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said Saturday that he is seeking to pardon a U.S. Army sergeant who was convicted of murder in the 2020 fatal shooting of an armed protester during nationwide protests against police violence and racial injustice.

Abbott tweeted that because the state constitution limits him to a pardon only on a recommendation by the state Board of Pardons and Paroles he is asking the board to recommend a pardon and to expedite his request in order to pardon Sgt. Daniel Perry.

NPR April 8, 2023
Does anybody think the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles would actually approve this? Apparently Abbot believes that the Texas open carry of war weapons law should apply only to white people.

I've seen reporting that implied they would recommend the Pardon. Using the "Stand Your Ground Law". Even with the testimony Perry was the aggressor, started the altercation.

""The documents also contain a May 2020 text sent by Perry that said, “I might go to Dallas to shoot looters,” according to the Chronicle. Some messages included “white power” memes, the report said.""

Eyewittness testimony was provided to the jury. Apparently certain witnesses said the victim raised his AK-47, others say he did not. The jury obivously found one group more credible than the other. That the perp drove into the crowd, and his violent racist posts on social media must have also had some bearing. The "stand your ground" defense was the basically only defense used in the trial and the jury didn't buy it.

I found nothing in your linked CNN article suggesting that the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles was leaning toward granting a pardon.

Couple of fatal shootings in Texas yesterday.
In one a Texas man takes his GF out to dinner, finds out out both of them were scammed by a parking lot attendant for for $20 each. So this dude goes back to his car, shoots the attendant in the head killing him and goes back to the restaurant to finish his dinner telling her that everything was fine. Later she called the cops when she found out they were looking for them. Kill a stranger in cold blood for a lousy $40.00.

In another incident, a neighbor calmly goes over next door and kills five of them with a AR-15 execution style because they complained about his shooting guns in his front yard while their baby was asleep.

So to everyone who says its not the gun, it is. Guns make it very easy to kill. I realize that gun violence and homicides are all too common in the US, but the casual nature of these killings are quite chilling. Common theme is bad guys shoot first and they shoot to kill.

I am certain its going to happen. If the old Black & White movies from the 50's and 60's become popular again, that should be our hint. Most media (by plan) is intended to provoke people and get them riled up. Mix in booze and it can get lethal.
