Some take these fake talking points as gospel. Sad!
What is sad is there are still folks around who believe anything that Reich says.

Just two quick examples: Reich says that current inflation is due to corporation's opportunistic price increases. The NY Fed called BS on that months ago, but there's Reich still plugging away peddling the same crap: https://libertystreeteconomics.newyo...ion-increases/

Reich says the IRS's 87000 new agents won't be going after the middle class, they'll be going after the wealthy. History proves Reich wrong on this: https://trac.syr.edu/tracirs/latest/679/. In fact, history suggests that an individual who files a return using the EITC is more likely to get audited than someone who is rich.

Well one thing's for sure. I don't have to look at Reich-Wing media to hear their talking points when they're delivered right here on PC. It saves what would be a lot of wasted time out of my day.

70% is not a significant minority, even in MAGA Math.

Bullshit X2. From the study you originally linked to:

Still, roughly one in three (32%) adults agree that a group of people is trying to replace native-born Americans with immigrants for electoral gains. A similar share (29%) also express concern that an increase in immigration is leading to native-born Americans losing economic, political, and cultural influence.

The above numbers include both Repubs and Dems. We also know that Dems PURSUED the "demographics is destiny" angle as far back as the early 2000's, maybe even earlier, looking to exploit the changing demographics and believing it would benefit their party.

Now you want to turn around and point to a "study" from the hard left SPL that appears to contradict the first study you linked to. That's a dishonest maneuver.

That 70% number is bullshit, too. Here's the reference from your "bait and switch" posting of the SPL study:

Nearly 7 in 10 Republicans surveyed agree to at least some extent that demographic changes in the United States are deliberately driven by liberal and progressive politicians attempting to gain political power by “replacing more conservative white voters.” Across the political spectrum, we found substantial support for threatening or acting violently against perceived political opponents.

The SPL study, at least in the summary, doesn't clarify the extent that the 7 out of 10 hold these views, so your use of the 70% number is BS.

Also from the study, you linked to:

The SPLC survey was not designed to simply measure prejudice or bigotry. Instead, we set out to examine to what degree people in certain groups feel threatened or persecuted by members of a defined “outgroup.” The belief that one group of people is inherently harmful to your own is foundational to extremism, as is the idea that the well-being and survival of the “in group” depends on taking hostile action against those who supposedly threaten it.

You and yours wish to paint your political opponents as "extreme" and believe that Repubs and conservatism are a threat. But you lack the self-awareness to realize that "The belief that one group of people is inherently harmful to your own is foundational to extremism".

In other words: You've outed yourself as an extremist nut job. Good job! Recognition is the first step to recovery.

Republican Senate candidates promote ‘replacement’ theory
https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politic...acement-theory

Quote:
Several mainstream Republican Senate candidates are drawing on the “great replacement” conspiracy theory once confined to the far-right fringes of U.S. politics to court voters this campaign season, promoting the baseless notion that there is a plot to diminish the influence of white people in America.

Three weeks ago in Arizona, Republican Senate candidate Blake Masters accused Democrats of trying to flood the nation with millions of immigrants “to change the demographics of our country.” A few days later in Missouri, Senate hopeful Eric Schmitt, the state attorney general, said Democrats were “fundamentally trying to change this country through illegal immigration.” And in Ohio, Republican Senate nominee JD Vance accused Democrats of trying to “transform the electorate.”

...

Indeed, a mainstream interpretation of replacement theory in the U.S. baselessly suggests Democrats are encouraging immigration from Latin America so more like-minded potential voters replace “traditional” Americans, says Mark Pitcavage, senior research fellow at the Anti-Defamation League Center on Extremism.

Such a message has become a central component of the modern-day conservative movement’s appeal to voters. Former President Donald Trump repeatedly warned of an immigrant invasion on the southern border, and he was slow to condemn white supremacy throughout his presidency.

Shortly after taking office, Trump shared a social media post from someone with the username WhiteGenocideTM.

From your article:

From NBC, reporting on the 2004 election cycle:

Dems boosted by demography, destiny
The population trends that gave Democrats an edge in November show no sign of slowing.

The Census Bureau projects that the white share of the overall population will decline to 60 percent by 2020 and 51 percent by 2040. The black population share will remain largely unchanged; Asian and "other minority" shares of the population will grow steadily (to nearly 11 percent combined by 2040); and the Hispanic presence will explode. By 2020, Hispanics are projected to constitute nearly one-fifth of the population; by 2040, more than one-fourth.

These trends point toward trouble for the GOP if it cannot attract more minorities, especially Hispanics, and reverse the recent Democratic inroads among well-educated whites.

The guy who wrote the above article is Ron Brownstein, a left-leaning journalist who is now with CNN. The article above strikes a hopeful tone that ongoing demographic shifts will continue to favor Dems.

Fast forward to today, and ol' Ron has a glaring lack of self-awareness or he's hoping no one will go back and look at his old articles. Back then Ron was cheering for "demographics is destiny". Now he's on Twitter talking about "replacement theory-style, anti-immigration" ads.

There's nothing new here. The only thing that's new is that the Dems are working hard to link pro-legal immigration to racism, and hoping that everyone forgets that they used to cheer for demographic changes moving the electorate in their favor. That didn't work out well for them, but they're finding new ways to recycle an old issue.

And there you are, lapping it all up.

Once again, you are deliberately conflating two different things, one benign (and a conventional political practice) and one that is racist, un-American and dangerous. Specifically, there's a huge difference between a political party tweaking their policies and communications strategy to reflect demographic changes (something the GOP also once felt it needed to do as outlined in their 2013 "autopsy") and a conspiracy theory that posits that a (mostly Jewish) cabal is deliberately trying to undermine American society by replacing a preferred demographic (white Christians) with people of color (e.g., Hispanics) or Muslims (and which has resulted in several mass murders (El Paso and Pittsburgh)).

Democrats doing the former and Republicans doing the latter are two completely different things, yet you continue to maintain they are one and the same. For example, calling NeoNazis in Charlottesville "very fine people" after they paraded to a mantra of "Jews will not replace us" is materially different than Democrats crafting their message to appeal to Hispanic voters. I think you know this, but just can't bring yourself to admit that the GOP has become a morally bankrupt malignant force in American politics.

You and your fellow travelers are constantly conflating the desire to control the borders and reduce illegal immigration with racism. Almost every single missive that blathers on about replacement theory ties immigration to the discussion.

And I really can do without proclamations of moral bankruptcy from you while you and yours constantly try to redefine your political opponents as Nazi's and fascists. That's about as morally bankrupt as it gets.

OK fact....

Once the immigrant get to the border it is to late. Ask yourself how someone can get to the USA from Honduras Venezuela without passing thru other countries? Stopping the need to come in the first place is what the answer is.

I still advocate for going after the employers and landlords seizing businesses and property.

Just what is the answer?
Shooting them?

Go the the root problems and solve them. This is if looked at closely a climate related issue. The countries effected now had zero to do with the causes.

If you know anything about political science and history, it's hardly a stretch to characterize Trumpism as fascism, or probably more accurately, proto-fascism. I most certainly wish it weren't so, but it is. Just as you've been trying recently to wipe the Trump stink off of you, the GOP has a long way to go and the jury's out whether it even wants to.

As for replacement theory, immigration and identity politics, they're interrelated, but different, issues and you conflate them, moving from one to other as you lose the argument on each.

Republicans don't care about immigration reform, other than as a hot-button wedge issue to fire up their nativist base. They proved it by killing Dubya's immigration reform initiative. Their chosen alternative, building Trump's big beautiful wall at Mexico's expense, was a sick joke and a failure. It is inarguable that the Republicans are less interested in immigration reform than the Democrats. All they have is performative antics.
