The Repugnicans want to deny and divert attention from what they were complicit in. Re: the attack on our democracy. They'd like nothing less than to have all accounts of this event erased from our history. They know come the 2022 election cycle they'll be running against their treachery. What history proves over and over again about the human and denying diverting attention. This fact seems quite evident, there is a powerful tendency to never willingly peacefully accept a defeat. Look at the many battles still being raged to this day over issues many many hundred of years later. Where the many years have done little to lessen the power of the discord.

Further, the Feds are already working on plea bargains for a lost of the offenders, since the sheer number of cases will overload their justice system. So a large majority will get away with a slap on the wrist but here is hoping that most if not all will be felonies, which will eff up their employment opportunities.
