How autocracy works, a brief summary.
Trump starts a war with Iran, it ends up not being a war, and he's a hero. And the DOW is up 300 points. Trump starts a trade war with China, then agrees with the Chinese that a bunch of the changes will go back to where they were before he started the trade war, and he's a hero. And the DOW is up 300 points.
As for the fallout from the trade war...without Congressional approval which is usually required for such things, American farmers all across the fruited plain who are being hammered by the effects of the trade war tarrifs, have been provided enormous subsidies by the Trump administration. Where is this money coming from? It's coming from those of us who are not farmers.
And...according to a report on NPR, in pretty much every case, the subsidy has ended up being significantly in excess of the losses actually impacting American farmers.
So us non-farmers are not only paying for the subsidy, we're paying for the pay-off for the farm vote in November. Eighty percent of which went to Trump in November 2016, and eighty percent of which will go for him again this November.

Borrowed, put on the ole credit card....for the next few generations to pay for.
Somehow the blame will be placed on the Dems of course when being paid off!
That be my guess.

As with every Republican administration, and every Republican controlled Congress, spending and the debt increases geometrically under the control of the "party of small gubmint."

I cannot recall the last time I agreed with Ike, and I'll admit having eschewed politics for approximately three years -- but I'm forced to concur, here.

Republicans are the party of capitalism, that is, the party of greed, so of course they handle public finances like pirates.
(Look up Ambrose Bierce's definition of piracy some time.)

I think, in it's purest form, capitalism is a pretty good model. I think the problem with it, like with pretty much everything else, is that it ends up manipulated by the whole of mankind. The species has taken a workable system for generating operating capital which allows businesses to grow, employ people, produce products and services, and generally allow for the improvement of the quality of life in...uh...civilization, I guess. What has the species done with it? Turned it into a fucking casino. The system has been taken over by day traders, hedge funders, algorithmic computer trading systems, etc. Long-term "investors" like some of us, have always been in it not only to have a place for their retirement funds to grow, but who are the participants who contribute to capitalism functioning as it should.
Mankind will fuck up a pleasant little wet dream.

The Reps are Monarchist.
The country will decide between the two the path forward if the election is free from corruption and interference.
