A good system would benefit what passes nowadays for the middle class, like the taxes that pay for infrastructure, if single payer/ full participation.

I can think of numerous advantages to working in my profession that go beyond the monetary compensation received. Yes that is anecdotal, but it is my experience. Perhaps you would conclude that my recognition of those other advantages makes me a sucker.

If you are a single mother, which most are these days, it is a simple matter to find out what is available per state for women with children, particularly under the age of five.

And, anecdotally I can introduce you to a dozen neighbors of mine who have never worked in their life yet miraculously they have as much or more than somebody trying to work at Dollar General or McDonalds.
