But doesn't a hero have a just cause to fight for? What exactly is their just cause?

The short answer would be 'imaginary.'

Basically, their cause is to lead resistance against the evil Federal Government and its plans to enslave us all.

They may be into saying they want 'anarchy,' by which they mean they get to be in charge.

Protecting poachers and arsonists.

Funny thing is the Hammonds and most of the locals want nothing to do with these Bundy loons.

This is pretty vague....

What is it they really want? Anarchy?
They were less than vague elsewhere in their statement when they said that they were looking to "return the land to the people" or words to that effect, giving them free access for logging, mining, etc, without "interference" from the Feds.

Sounds like they want a return to the wild wild west where the strongest took what they wanted.

I would agree that this would be a good time for their "movement" to die but I don't think that any time is a good time for anyone to die. And again, you'd just be making heroes out them, just like David Koresh and Randall Weaver. We have more than enough of them already and more than enough violent deaths.

The people they are supposedly fighting for are against it. To me that makes this just wonton terrorism.
Yeah, or maybe chicken egg drop terrorism.

Wonder how many of these patriots are on social welfare programs? How else could they take time off to fight an imaginary war and become heroes? Or do they get financial support from shadow right wing groups? It would be interesting to find out.
