For those not familiar with the incident Bob's referring to, this occurred when DJ's pals from the Bundy Ranch went on a rampage in Las Vegas, killing two cops eating breakfast, covering their bodies with the Gadsden Flag and moving on to a neighboring Walmart. That's when the Good Guy With a Gun appeared.

1. It's late.
2. I'm buzzed.
3. I have been shot at before, by folks who didn't desire to go back to prison.
4. I was once very, VERY good with a Glock 21 and Mossburg 500 (horrid with a Mini-14).
5. Doesn't mean shit.
Do you know what I am doing if ever confronted in civilian life, armed or no, by a gun wielding nutjob crazy? Hiding if I can, engaging if my back is to the wall: using whatever is available to me with, statistically, having a firearm making things worse. In my opinion, anyone who doesn't choose Option One in such a situation has delusions of grandeur.
Hell, with overwhelming force, appropriate tactical intelligence, target isolation and a warrant? Hiding was still my personal preference...
That psychopathic Navy SEAL who got wacked was an expert in firearms, with a friend, armed and -- one would hope as he was on a range -- at least somewhat tactically aware and he was offed in moments.
John Q. who believes he's going to Rambo it and save the world via his gun wielding actions is a verified dumbass. If that's the argument for improved general safety?
Ugh.

I've been shot at as well. If I had been armed.............
......it wouldn't have made a bit of difference. I was shot at twice from behind, complete surprise. The first bullet grazed my hip, the second missed as I had ditched my bike and hid behind a guardrail.
That was 30 years ago. I have never and still don't own any guns. I imagine there could be situations where one might be handy. But I believe the likelihood is low and in my hands it would collect dust, rust up in the meanwhile and become useless anyways. I've used guns in the past...........Meh. Don't care, don't understand what all the hoopla is about.

I'm thinking that most people, even those carrying, would first seek something to hide behind before they make any attempt to fight back. It's just a normal human reflex. Who in the hell would just stand there like a mannequin, out in the open and get shot at? That's stupid Even if you're armed, you're going to dodge behind a tree, a wall, a vehicle or something.

"Police confirmed on Wednesday that a concealed pistol license (CPL) holder was not being threatened by a fleeing shoplifter when she decided to fire multiple shots at him in a Home Depot parking lot."
"The shooting happened in the store’s parking lot at around 2 p.m. Tuesday, when Home Depot’s store security was chasing a shoplifter who jumped into a waiting dark SUV driven by another suspect, said Lt. Jill McDonnell, an Auburn Hills police spokeswoman.
But when the SUV began to pull away, the CPL holder, a 48-year-old woman from Clarkston, suddenly began firing shots at the fleeing vehicle. The vehicle escaped, though one of the bullets may have flattened a back tire, McDonnell said. Police are still seeking to identify the suspects, who made off with more than $1,000 in merchandise." From the link in Post #327:

Quote:
from Tennessee's Republican Lieutenant Governor Ron Ramsey.
“While this is not the time for widespread panic, it is a time to prepare,” he wrote on Friday morning. “I would encourage my fellow Christians who are serious about their faith to think about getting a handgun carry permit. I have always believed that it is better to have a gun and not need it than to need a gun and not have it. Our enemies are armed. We must do likewise.”
|
Christians are better off armed? Is that a coded message?

No? Neither have I. In fact, I haven't a f*****g clue what they are talking about.
