Under capitalism it is not illegal to receive $500,000 for a speech.

No indictments, no crime. That is the thing about all of these Clinton scandals...there are never any indictments.
Is anyone's speech worth half a Mil? No.
So what is the real intent here? Just plain capitalism? Make up pay for a relative low paying job? It's really to headline a power brokering event.

Funny how some folks who howl about big money in politics, the Citizens United decision, etc., have absolutely no problem with any of this.

It's awful funny that you can't discern the difference between the funding of a non profit charitable organization and political campaign money funneled through 501c4 corps who don't report the identity of their sources.

Why isn't Bill Clinton worth a cool half mill for headlining a confab? He's a pretty popular president by all polls. Do you have some comps?

What's funny is the hypocrisy of the Republicans complaining about big money in politics.

Quote:
Gilmore then turns his attention to money in politics.

“The people of the United States don’t have confidence in the democratic system anymore,” Gilmore said. “They think it’s all rigged, they think it’s all set up, they think it’s all big money. She is the perfect candidate to continue that cynicism.”

Host Luke Russert then presses Gilmore on the massive amounts of money being poured into the GOP via the billionaire Koch brothers, and asks if there is perhaps too much money on his side of the aisle as well.

“I recognize that, as a matter of fact,” Gilmore replies. “But the fact is that the Koch brothers are not supporting Hillary Clinton.”

However, when Russert asks Gilmore if he’d take money from a Super PAC, Gilmore says “sure” without hesitation.

So, to review: Gilmore says Clinton doesn’t have integrity and she that the she represents American’s feelings that politics is rigged by big money. But the Koch brothers’ money doesn’t count and Gilmore himself would take money from a Super PAC.

Got it? Good.

I have absolutely no problem with that. It is indeed capitalism where the market determines the value of his speech. Question is who is his market and how is his speech sold, or for that matter is this a simple speech to an adoring audience or more.

FWIW, for me personally Bill Clinton was one of the best presidents of the US in the last few decades since Nixon. But his speech is still not worth half a mil to me.

*Chuckle* No Barb, the GOP has already been scared for years.
I'll just put it this way. Its not the GOP Hillary needs to worry about.
