The Terror We Give Is the Terror We Get
http://www.commondreams.org/views/20...-terror-we-get
Quote:
We fire missiles from the sky that incinerate families huddled in their houses. They incinerate a pilot cowering in a cage. We torture hostages in our black sites and choke them to death by stuffing rags down their throats. They torture hostages in squalid hovels and behead them. We organize Shiite death squads to kill Sunnis. They organize Sunni death squads to kill Shiites. We produce high-budget films such as “American Sniper” to glorify our war crimes. They produce inspirational videos to glorify their twisted version of jihad.
The barbarism we condemn is the barbarism we commit. The line that separates us from the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) is technological, not moral. We are those we fight.
“From violence, only violence is born,” Primo Levi wrote, “following a pendular action that, as time goes by, rather than dying down, becomes more frenzied.”
The burning of the pilot, Jordanian Lt. Muath Al-Kaseasbeh, by ISIS militants after his F-16 crashed near Raqqa, Syria, was as gruesome as anything devised for the Roman amphitheater. And it was meant to be. Death is the primary spectacle of war. If ISIS had fighter jets, missiles, drones and heavy artillery to bomb American cities there would be no need to light a captured pilot on fire; ISIS would be able to burn human beings, as we do, from several thousand feet up. But since ISIS is limited in its capacity for war it must broadcast to the world a miniature version of what we do to people in the Middle East. The ISIS process is cruder. The result is the same.

Typical bullshit from John.
The moment we start locking the ISIS folks in cages and burning them alive, I'll worry about being "deligitimized". Until then. let's recognize evil for what and who it is, and deal with it for what and who it is.
I'm sure that the ISIS crowd isn't posting messages on Political forums worrying about how they treated Kayla Mueller. Nor am I suggesting that we need to be like Jordan and go "eye for an eye" with ISIS either. But its seems like a damn shame that we dicked around with them for a year and incurred a dead hostage before finally recognizing they were at war with us and - maybe - responding to the threat that ISIS represents.

So, well over two thousand bombing missions is dicking around? Google Khobani, Syria and see some of the strides we've made against these rat bastards.
Sounds like you've got that Obama Derangement Syndrome pretty bad Mike. Write a letter to your rep in the house of turds and ask 'em why they can't get off the dime and vote on as authorization of military force. I'll bet the cons want it to be revenue neutral.

Yup, we're dicking around. You might want to cheer-lead for Obama on this by counting air strikes (I think your 2000 might be a bit high). The enemy is still advancing. Here's an interactive map that shows how ISIS is gaining control of additional territory in spite of coalition air strikes. See for yourself.

It ain't about "derangement syndrome", whatever the hell that's supposed to mean. Its about our results versus the enemy's. Right now they're advancing in spite of the coalition's efforts. I feat that this is what happens when you fight a war worrying about whom you might offend. However, I'm also hopeful that maybe we're coming to our senses and with the use of force request.
