My Jihad.

I like this and wish them well.

"MyJihad is a public education campaign that seeks to share the proper meaning of Jihad as believed and practiced by the majority of Muslims. Jihad means "struggling in the way of God". The way of God, being goodness, justice, passion, compassion, etc. ..."

However, what one justifies as Jihad can range from an average Muslim struggling against the common flu to a radical Islamist struggling against "The Great Satan", unfortunately. Degrees, Pete. And remember, every war is just and "Holy" in the eyes of those who wage it.

Dave

Yep, and one person's terrorist is another's freedom fighter.

While this effort is laudable, it doesn't mean much unless similar efforts are undertaken in the Middle East.

Well, I think there are. I think, for instance, the resistance to Morsi in Egypt is in part a rejection of radical Islam. There are similar moderate and secular movements in Libya.

Sadly, there are examples of the opposite phenomenon to be found. However it began, the Syrian uprising has been hijacked by some very extreme groups. Even in Iraq, the fall of the Ba'athists gave radical and sectarian elements an opening.

Then there are regimes like that in Saudi Arabia or Iran which are either wholly committed to radical Islam or at least happy to accommodate it.
