Pete
The most shocking thing I see there, Pete is that the debt nearly DOUBLED between 2000-2008. And lets see; Who had both the Congress and the Whitehouse from '01 to '07? Why our friends over at the "fiscally conservative" GOP of course!

Holy Shit! That makes the stimulus look like chump change.

Thanks for the info.

The numbers to look at are 2001 to 2009. The government fiscal year is Oct. 1 to Sep. 30 so Clinton's last budget was through Sep. 2001 and Bush's last just ended in Sep. 2009. That means Bush more than doubled the debt from Clinton's last year in office, $5.8 trillion to $11.9 trillion.

I really can't understand how anyone can defend the job those guys did.

WRONG
So I head my happy ass down to the check cashing place that I always use since I dont like banks, due to the factthat it just dont seem right for some place to charge me to make money off my money.
I sign it, hand it to the cute young lady behind the counte and she frowns, "Sorry, we cant cash that."

"Uhm, why not?" I ask ever so nicely. She then explains that only the post office will cash those, a fact that I was blissfully unaware of.
Ok, thats cool, I will just have to wait till tomorrow and go to THE UNITED STATES POST OFFICE(Big letters and important sounding name which we all are supposed to trust and believe in).
---------------------fast forward to the next morning------------------
BRRRR, freezin cold and I got better things to do, but off I go to getz me cash. I walk up and wait in line while the postal workers discuss the current temperature, football scores and little jennys rash with the local yahoos.
1st teller; "Sorry, I cant cash that, maybe idiot #2 can." (I have to actually give a crap about your existance before I allocate memory space for your name)
Idiot #2; "Nope, cant do it, maybe idiot #3 can."
Idiot #3;"Nope, maybe later on I can."
All this time, the blood pressure is going up, so I make a wise decision and turn around and walk away while shaking my head and muttering "Epic fail"
My question is, if you are in the business of selling a proprietary service, like money orders only you can cash, shouldntyou have the money to cover one, especially first thing in the morning?
You, as a rational person would think so,,,,,right?
WRONG

Which leads me to the title of this post,.Well, the way I see it, people that snap are just done with the bullshit that our existance is so full of. Hell the government gets to do what they want, when they want, and to whoever they want, so Why cant I? All our lives they spew forth rules and regulations and laws, but oh hell no, they dont gotta follow them.
So, the next time some thug beats the crap outta a 80 year old grandmother or some kid gets abducted and chopped to little pieces, you now probly know the primary reason they went ballistic.

have a nice fuckin day,,,,,,,
Don't feel like the Lone Stranger.

I've left the local Post Office shaking my head more than once.

I think the worst one was when I ran in 1st thing in the morning to send a money order, I had already found out that they wouldn't take a check, so I pulled a C note out of my safe on the way up.

Guess what...they couldn't even break a crummy $100 bill. Now this is Bugtussell, but we're still the County Seat, population of app. 3,500, with probably twice that living just outside of the city.

Personally, I think that it's the same shoe fits every foot regs coming down from above. They used not to be this way.

I have never had a problem with the local PO. I have never even had letter get lost coming or going in 50 some odd years. I have to think they are about the best run company in American. I know of no private corp that has such a stellar record.

Because "Real Americans", who love apple pie, hot dogs, Dirty Harry movies, and Sarah Palin and despise anything foreign, different, new, out-of-the-ordinary, or contradictory to the politically quazi-religious dogmas as set forth by Limbaugh, Hannity, and Neil Boortz know that "the numbers lie". Except when they lie in favor of the GOP, then it is a lie ordained by the Almighty himself, and therefore-----not a lie. Or, at least it's a "good lie".

Here is another answer to the original question....

"We cannot expect the Americans to jump from Capitalism to Communism, but we can assist their elected leaders in giving Americans small doses of Socialism until they suddenly awake to find they have Communism." ~ Soviet Leader Nikita Khrushchev, 1959

A TAX POEM

Tax his land,
Tax his bed,
Tax the table
At which he's fed.

Tax his tractor,
Tax his mule,
Teach him taxes
Are the rule.

Tax his work,
Tax his pay,
He works for peanuts Anyway!

Tax his cow,
Tax his goat,
Tax his pants,
Tax his coat.

Tax his ties,
Tax his shirt,
Tax his work,
Tax his dirt..

Tax his tobacco,
Tax his drink,
Tax him if he
Tries to think.

Tax his cigars,
Tax his beers,
If he cries
Tax his tears.

Tax his car,
Tax his gas,
Find other ways
To tax his ass.

Tax all he has
Then let him know
That you won't be done
Till he has no dough.

When he screams and hollers,
Then tax him some more,
Tax him till
He's good and sore.

Then tax his coffin,
Tax his grave,
Tax the sod in
Which he's laid.

Put these words
upon his tomb,
' Taxes drove me to my doom...'

When he's gone,
Do not relax,
Its time to apply
The inheritance tax.

Not one of these taxes existed 100 years ago, and our nation was
the most prosperous in the world..

We had absolutely no national debt, had the largest middle class in
the world, and Mom stayed home to raise the kids.

What in the world happened? Can you spell 'politicians!'
And I still have to 'press 1' for English!?!?!?!?

Really? I'd ask you to document and explain this but you cannot so I won't bother.

Yes

Would you prefer to press two for English?

This post is fictional.

BTW, English is not the official language of the US so there is no reason to not press 1. and it was not in 1910 either.

Sorry JJ but this post is what I feel is wrong with this country.

Folks believe the lies and they are told without questioning or verifying.

No wonder the Palin for President war cries.

For goodness sake! Where is your sense of humor? I thought the absurdity of the thing was obvious. Lighten up!
