I'm no Democrat but I have a great deal of difficulty with the decision to invade Iraq based on the rationale that was used as justification and it has little to do with second guessing.

Except for the factual evidence that the Bush Cheney camp were lying through their teeth at the U.N.? There were no WMDs unless you call Scuds WMDs?

Nope. The comparison was made between the surprise attacks of Pearl Harbor and 9/11. In both instances, there was some intelligence pointing to an imminent attack. As for the Iraq War, this was a planned war based upon spurious assertions. The Iraq debacle may be more comparable to the Spanish American War, though at least we gained some territory to compensate for our losses there and help us forget the dubious origins of that war.

Indeed. It's very comfortable, and I have a great view of my library

Though if my neck gets much worse I'll have to use a e-book :grr:

It's not clear whether Powell knew that the presentation he gave to the UN was bogus. It was bogus of, course, but did Powell know it was bogus? Perhaps he felt like he'd been set up. Perhaps that's why he endorsed Obama.
