Al Queda takes Falluja?
"A rejuvenated al-Qaeda force asserted control over the western Iraqi town of Fallujah on Friday, raising its flag over government buildings and declaring an Islamic state in one of the most crucial areas that U.S. troops fought to pacify before withdrawing from Iraq two years ago."

I wonder how long it will take for the wingnuttery to blame it all on Obama?

Second Battle of Fallujah
To make a political statement they threw the marines into close
quarters combat. Al Qaeda knew the Marines were coming, as a matter of fact everyone knew the Marines were coming.
So in an urban situation Al Qaeda had time to prepare all kinds of boobies and nasties for the Marines.

Who are the financiers of Al Qaeda in Iraq, Taliban in Afghanistan and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in Pakistan? Saudi Arabia and Qatar primarily. And let's not forget Syria and Libya.

Yawn.
Eventually, that shithole would have gone to the dogs again, anyhow.

Ding, ding. I think it's safe to say that the situation in Iraq can all be laid at Gee Dubya's and Cheny's doorsteps. How long should we have kept combat troops in Fallujah, DJ?

If we were really smart, we should have given the Jews Mexico and let Russia have the Middle East. And tell the Europeans to clean up after themselves once they shit the bed.
But there ain't no money in that, is there?

If we had to keep them anywhere, Iraq would have been preferable to the "Graveyard of Empires".
Personally, I don't blame Shrub or Obama. The die was cast years before them, and both had limited choices...all of which were bad.
The American population deludes themselves with the misconception that both the POTUS and the military have powers so great as to control the nature of world affairs.
That is not the case.

No argument with the bolded except us dope smokin' hippies remember how well that worked in 'Nam.
Hopefully we will be outta that shithole soon.(Thank you, Obama)
Whoever thought we could instill democratic principles in Afghanistan or Iraq was seriously delusional. That would be Gee Dubya by my lights. YMMV. Doesn't really matter in the long run tho. I've also read some Kipling, too.
