Jon Stewart is Leaving The Daily Show
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/...-year/?hpid=z1
After sixteen years and a shipping crate full of Emmys, Jon is stepping down from the helm at the Daily Show.
Thanks for the laughs and your incisive wit Mr. Stewart.

I just saw that. It'll be interesting to see what Comedy Central does with that time slot. I'll miss Colbert more than Stewart. Stewart had gotten a bit preachy and whiny, something that never happened with Colbert.

On the other hand...Colbert lost a ton of opportunity to make strong points as Stewart has done all these years because he refused to step out of character for 5 seconds to pound home a point.
His interviews were a pain in the ass. Most of the time, had I been on the other side of the table from him attempting to provide a message to the moronic people of this country and Colbert wouldn't stop going for a cheap laugh, I would have reached over and slapped him. Beats me why any serious public figure would waste his/her time in a Colbert interview on the TeeVee.
Stewart was/is the man. Why am I not surprised that you would suggest "preachy and whiny."

For a comedy show, yes, at least compared to Colbert. I'm a fan and loyal viewer of The Daily Show, but sometimes his preachiness gets a bit tiresome.

Stewart himself said he was losing his edge, "This show doesn't deserve an even slightly restless host, and neither do you." I've watched nearly every episode of The Daily Show for the past dozen years, and it has become clear in the past year or two that he is starting to lose his edge, and sometimes even his sense of humor, about the current state of our political affairs. It's understandable after over 15 years at the helm.
