I hear ya, Chas. At one time, my wife was nearly a deer hunting widow. I was in the woods most days between mid-September and the end of January (mostly with a bow or a muzzleloader). A nasty bout with Lyme Disease and the PITA of dragging dead deer out of the woods and butchering them took the wind out of my sails.
I still bowhunt, but pretty much only during the rut (first 2 weeks of November) and only right behind the house. I shoot 1-2 per year and hang up the bow until the following year.
