Yeah, I don't need any of my "Salty Rifles"-I'll NEVER use them as they were intended-Or, let's hope I never HAVE to-But I just like them basically for the same reason I like Boatanchors-"Mil-Spec" stuff is usually a couple of grades ahead of even the best "consumer-grade" items. I like the "Over-engineered to the max" aspect of 'em, & its also neat for me, personally, to have a piece of history in my hands. Uzis ? An Israeli gun that may have been instrumental in saving Israel's collective butt several times. An innovative design, as well. FALs ? The Free World's Right Arm-Used by something like 90 countries at one time or another as their main battle rifle. There are 2 basic versions, metric & inch, which are identical, yet are largely NOT interchangable. They are also one of the most physically attractive battle rifles ever made. The AK47- The Big Kahuna, the Mac Daddy, more of them have been made/sold/given away than any other rifle. They even have been chambered in Western calibers, altho the original Combloc caliber 7.62 X 39 MM is easily available. They aren't pretty, & they're kinda crude, but an AK will almost always go "Bang !", no matter what happens to it. I dunno, I just really LIKE this stuff. I could bore y'all for quite awhile on the history of these things...Shooting them is almost a minor consideration to me....My real interest is more of historical and/"gearhead" perspective...
