Students use to get part time and holiday work in a particular restaurant nearby. No more! Recently I saw a wanted sign in Spanish on the door of said business. " Se necesita trabajador"
Often in such establishment they work the illegals for long hours and take away their tips.
And you can bet your @ss that the proprietor of that restaurant (and others like him) much prefer the Hispanic help to some coddled suburban kid who is studying art history at NYU or Columbia. Same goes for small construction companies, I'm sure.

And that is the problem in a nutshell, not that there are gaps in the border fence.
