Both. Despite being a comedian, he has better journalistic ethics than Beck, Hannity, et al on Fox (damning him with faint praise, I realize). His "fake news" is closer to the truth than the "contrived to enrage" malarkey on Fox. In a nutshell, Fox makes sh*t up, and Stewart ridicules them for doing so.
I also prefer Colbert. The dude is an enormous talent.
