There are plenty of graduates being produced by prestigious universities that utterly lack common sense and/or an ability to lead. There are also those that are too specialized or "focused" to ascertain a strategic vision. I do not recall stating that Obama lacked intelligence, but rather, that by his own actions and statements he has demonstrated a lack of qualities necessary to be an effective leader. Similarly, I do not think Carter lacked innate intelligence, but instead just couldn't lead.
