That should have been an indication that Obama was not all that liberal. The University of Chicago is a very conservative school. Judge Posner of the Seventh Circuit came from there. He likes to blend a lot of cost/benefit analysis into his legal opinions. The U of C does, however, have an outstanding academic reputation.

U of C is truly one of the finest universities in the world. That said, it also a university where "fun goes to die." Lots of eggheads, little fun, I'm told (from several Physics alumni).
