I thought the USA along with Europe imported oil from Libya? I've read that its Sulfur content is lower than oil from Saudi Arabia, so it costs less to refine.
As to a "no-fly" zone, it's being talked about by the British government. More than talk? Possibly, but for the wrong reasons. There's some feeling in the Conservative lead coalition that being seen to 'do something' could make them look good.
Gadafy (spellchecker has its limits) may be insane in our eyes but he seems to believe 'the people' are with him in a fight against foreign terrorists. What do you think of the danger that if he's pushed out, his final act could be the same as Saddam Husein's was; set fire to as many oil wells as he can. Unlike in Iraq, there doesn't seem to be the desire or even ability for US/UK forces to occupy the place.
