I've been to the Holocaust Museum several times. Maybe because I've seen the real thing many times over, I find it somewhat underwhelming - even dumbed down.
If you want a real dumbed-down experience, visit the newly renovated National Museum of American History on the Mall. I think it was redone at an 8th grade intelligence level. I used to like the somewhat shabby previous iteration of the museum. Today's refurbished version focuses too much on popular culture for my tastes.
