From what I've read, this guy had a domestic violence history. For sure anybody who has a recorded history of domestic violence problems, and anybody who has ever had a court order of protection placed on them, should not be able get their hands on any gun of any kind.

The only rational response to the abuse of the second amendment is to repeal it as an absolute unconditional birthright, and make the custododianship of firearms a conditional privilege with strict enforcement of standards of qualification.
I can't imagine a scenario when this could actually happen, instead, a reversion to the old standard under a fright wing authoritarian dictatorship that ensures only the "right" folks have unrestricted unlimited access to any and all types in any quantity to support their dominance.
