I'm gonna disagree with you here don...after what we learned on Jan 6th (which half of us already knew before Jan 6th)is that anybody who supports Trump, or what has become the party of Trump, has some observable psychopathology. The sociopaths are the ultra-wealthy, the rest are either racists, religious fanatics, or intellectually incompetent. So I agree 74 million of them are not sociopaths, but it's a minimum of them who are just stupid.
Here's something from Robert Reich that is pretty good...
Why Have So Many Americans Succumbed to Trumpism?
I don't believe Reich addressed the 1%er's sufficiently in this treatise, and he's specifically letting the racists and xenophobes off the hook, which is really fucked up. And to be honest, when it comes to the dopey Americans who feel like the "American Dream" has been stolen from them. IMHO instead of holding the mega-rich, the offshoring corporatists, the bankers, the insurance magnates, the Congress and the US legal system responsible going back to the 1970's when the economic "rigging" began, they're blaming it on black folks, LatinX, Muslims, and anybody else who managed to get in front of them in the food stamp line, who doesn't look like them. So yeah sure, they're stupid, but they're stupid bigots. And I believe I've addressed almost all of the "74 million". It's on the people...it's all on the people, it's always on the ignorant, self-indulgent, self-absorbed, people...who, in the case of this country, are getting exactly the government they deserve.
But it's likely we may still disagree on some or all of this.
PS - as I generated the last of this, I have probably contradicted myself a half-dozen times. It's difficult not to when one is on a rant.
