You certainly are quick to pick up on Fox News agitprop. If you truly had concerns about politicians showing empathy, you would have started years ago with your favorite orange-hued sociopath.
So what? It was somehow impossible even to provide a basic comment that showed empathy. Something like, "I have no additional comments at this time, but rest assured our administration is fully engaged to support the people of Maui."

Or maybe: "I'll have more to say on this later today (or whenever), but our thoughts are with the people of Maui."

Would that have been so hard?

As far as your stupid and thoughtless "agitprop" comment, please try for just a moment to be a decent human. This kind of thing matters to people. Even folks at CNN get it. This piece frames it perfectly: https://www.cnn.com/2023/08/17/opini...zer/index.html

The author compares Biden's "No comment" to Bush's Katrina moments:

A photograph of him sitting on Air Force One flying above New Orleans turned into a symbol of his indifference. Bush later admitted that the image resulted in voters seeing him as “detached and uncaring, no question about it.”

For all of Bush's short-comings, at least he was man enough to own it.
