Why? Its a political solution where the underlying lying laws and prosecutorial norms do not apply.
Trump blackmailed Ukraine into getting them to tarnish Biden and his candidacy to help him win an election and there was a mountain of evidence. The Senate refused to convict Trump.
Trump mounted an insurrection against the government of USA, again there was ample evidence to convict him and once again the Repugnant Senate refused to convict him.
In either instance there is no further recourse such as appeals or mistrial.
You call this brilliant?
Yes, he can shoot someone in the head in Times Square in broad daylight and he will be acquitted by a Repugnant Senate.
