Upholding the right of individuals to keep and bear arms is a very long way from a "plan to have every citizen to own and carry a firearm legally". The constitution doesn't require ownership of a firearm, nor does it require owners to carry. Defending the Constitution doesn't mean compelling ownership, nor does it empower state or Federal gov'ts to restrict those rights.
I don't have an issue with law enforcement agents to carry and use firearms in the performance of their duties. I'm not sure why the IRS requires armed enforcement agents given the enforcement tools already at their disposal, and given the other branches of law enforcement that are already available to support enforcement of Federal law.

No leaps, simple logic.
The Republican party promotes gun ownership, right to self defense and advocates that all citizens are armed to the hilt including assault weapons like AK-47 and AR-15, correct? Refute this.
IRS agents are often put in dangerous situations, correct? And historically some IRS agents have always been armed like the agents from ATF, correct? And they do have the right of self defense, correct? So why not arm them while on duty? Refute this.
As finn has already raised, the Republican party also advocates that all teachers be armed correct? Why? They too have multiple law enforcement resources and we all know how well it worked in a wingnut state like Texas recently. So according to the Republicans, its still preferable to arm teachers because when the shooting starts, the LEO are nowhere to be found correct? Otherwise, why would so many children continue to get killed. It seems children spend more time in classrooms learning how to hide under desks than learning. And the primary concern is to escape unharmed when the shooting starts rather than learning, correct? Refute this.
So why shouldn't IRS agents entering dangerous situations be armed? Heck for that matter, why shouldn't high school students be armed? Its their lives that the Republicans are sacrificing in their total capitulation to the NRA? Refute this.
