Although Texas and Florida are both very populous and more than a bit red. I'd bet the large red sections of California's pop. is close to, if not more than, the pop. of the reddest rural states'.
MIC spending contributes to this condition in that low paying high employment bases are typically rural while high paying low employnent weapons manufacturing concerns and DoD's way too large command structure are usually in urban locations.
