The democrats sent a man who had at least a tiny chance to force the orange monster to resign. The most basic character of this person had to be - a conservative/liberal democrat. There were not many like these available. It was so good that Bernie quit in favour of Joe.
mpholland it is obivious that Biden is not Premier Grand Cru Classé but he may do a decent job until he will be replaced by Kamala Harris. (Sooner or later.)
